Hermann “Rosi” Rosenberg — From KSK Commando to the SG00 Shadow Guard
Hermann “Rosi” Rosenberg is one of the very first Kommando Spezialkräfte (KSK) commandos and a respected figure within the Bundeswehr. He has shared firsthand accounts of his service and deployments — including tours in Kosovo and Afghanistan — in long-form interviews and podcasts.
Rosenberg’s operational experience spans special operations selection, low-light tactics, and close-quarters work. He has worked publicly as a consultant and instructor on fieldcraft and tactical entry, appearing in video series and training episodes where he demonstrates techniques derived from decades in special operations.
The Origin — a Line in the Dark
The SG00 (Shadow Guard) concept began simply: a single line drawn late one night — a line meant to “cut through uncertainty.” The brief was clear: design a mission-ready blade that integrates cleanly with standard kit, is fast to access, silent in carriage, and utterly reliable when needed. That idea became the SG00: a knife that doesn’t demand attention but earns respect where it matters — in the field.
Design Philosophy & Features
Built from Rosenberg’s practical experience, the SG00 is engineered for durability, utility, and low-signature carry. Key attributes include a hardened 90Cr18MoV blade for edge retention and corrosion resistance, a reinforced spine for chopping and breaching tasks, and a cord-wrapped handle designed to deliver secure purchase in wet or gloved hands. The design emphasizes quiet retention and rapid deployment, allowing operators to access the blade from standard magazine pouches or low-profile mounts without compromising concealment.
Field-Born, User-Tested
The SG00’s geometry, materials, and sheath system were iterated around real operational constraints: how a blade rides on a plate carrier or belt, how it survives moisture and abrasion, and how quickly it can be brought into action in close-quarters scenarios. The result is a blade intended for the realities of deployments — unflashy but uncompromising.
A Legacy of Practicality
Rosenberg’s involvement — from concept sketches to field testing — roots the SG00 in a lineage of special forces pragmatism. His public interviews and training work provide a transparent through-line from the lessons of selection and deployment to the knife’s final form: practical, mission-oriented, and designed to be ready when you are.
